1. Overview

FLC Sam Son Golf Links is an 18-hole seaside links sprawled along the 2.4km Sam Son coastline, serving as the core of the 450-hectare FLC Sam Son Beach & Golf Resort launched by FLC Group. Nicklaus Design led the masterplan and Flagstick executed the construction to deliver one of north-central Vietnam’s first authentic links layouts.

The design preserves natural dunes and shallow lagoons, producing rolling contours, wide landing areas that face the prevailing wind, and strategically placed pot bunkers. The front nine tunnels through Casuarina groves and low dunes, while the back nine climbs the coastal ridge for sweeping views and constant seaside exposure.

An 18-bay covered driving range with target greens, short-game zone, academy, 1,500-seat convention center, and more than 1,000 FLC Grand hotel rooms and villas are all connected on site, making it easy to host training camps and incentive groups. Hanoi is about 2.5 hours away by car, while Thanh Hoa city and Tho Xuan International Airport are 20 and 60 minutes out, respectively.

  • Links routing hugging the 2.4km beach with wind-forward shot making
  • Sea Isle 2000 Paspalum fairways and multi-cut greens for year-round consistency
  • Home to FLC Golf Championship and Bamboo Airways Invitational in the FLC Biscom tournament calendar

4.1 Layout

The front nine zigzags between dunes and Casuarina groves, offering wide fairways but demanding accurate second shots on the par-5s at No. 2 and No. 5, which carry along the left-side dunes and hazards. The par-3s at No. 3 and No. 7 face the prevailing sea wind, and the uphill 9th back toward the clubhouse keeps the early momentum alive.

The back nine rides the coastal ridge where the strongest crosswinds live. The par-5 13th climbs along the left dunes and gives an aggressive second-shot angle, while the par-5 15th curves along the right coastline with an S-shaped strategy line. Signature par-3 17 sits between the ocean and a lagoon on a crescent-shaped green guarded by a deep pot bunker.

  • Par 5 No. 5: diagonal tee shot over the left dunes plus a two-tiered green create risk-reward sequencing
  • Par 4 No. 12: double dogleg wrapping the inland lagoon; the tee landing zone determines the second-angle
  • Par 3 No. 17: crescent green between ocean and pond, constantly facing the breeze

An 18-bay covered range with target greens and a wedge-only short-game area near the clubhouse makes team practice easy, and multilingual FLC Biscom caddies support guests and long-stay visitors.
