1. Overview

MuongThanh Dien Lam Golf Club anchors the Muong Thanh Ecological Park complex in Nghệ An, offering an 18-hole layout carved into gentle hills and forested corridors just 60 km from Vinh city. IMG Golf Design kept the routing soft while highlighting the park's valleys and woodlands, making it the province's first full championship venue when it opened in 2019.

The holes follow natural elevation changes: the front nine drifts along creeks and meadows demanding precise carry distances, while the back nine climbs ridges with par-5s and downhill par-3s that reward strategic distance control. Sea Isle Paspalum fairways and thick green surrounds help tame the roll, so flights and fall-off angles matter as much as length.

Beyond the fairways, the resort layers safari land, a waterpark, five-star hotels, villas, and a thermal spa, giving families and corporate groups plenty of non-golf pursuits. A separate indoor range and short-game area keep practice options open even after long travel legs.

  • IMG-designed, valley-driven 18-hole resort course inside Muong Thanh Ecological Park
  • Resort links to safari, waterpark, and hotel/villa complexes for multi-day stays
  • Strategic Paspalum fairways over 7,103 yards requiring both power and precision

4. Course guide

4.1 Layout

The course splits into two clear moods: the front nine winds through valley corridors and forest glades where uphill carries and tempo control are critical, while the back nine climbs ridge lines with downhill approaches and coastal views that introduce stronger wind influence.

Every hole uses the natural contours, so front-three tee shots must land on the correct side of the ridge before soft layups across the woods. Holes 10–12 demand precise run and wind reads as the fairways climb before the final stretch drops toward the valley floor.

  • Par 5 No. 5: a signature long hole running alongside the safari lake; the water hazard before the green makes a conservative three-shot strategy safer.
  • Par 4 No. 10: a downhill view over the valley; keeping the tee shot right of the fairway bunker unlocks a short iron into the green.
  • Par 3 No. 17: perched atop the ridge with a dramatic downhill line; factor in the wind to avoid running through the green.

Paved cart paths and LED lighting cover the course, allowing for early-morning and sunset tee times during peak months.
