1. Overview

Phoenix Golf Resort sits across the limestone karst terrain of the Luong Son range in Hoa Binh and is often called the “land Halong Bay” of the north. Since opening in 2006, the 54-hole complex has been the largest resort-style destination in the region, reachable in about 60 minutes from Hanoi for convenient day trips.

Golfplan’s Ronald Fream led the master design with Japanese and Korean teams crafting three distinct loops (Phoenix, Dragon, Champion). Players move through jagged karst pinnacles, dramatic par-3s beside manmade lakes, the Dragon Course’s canyon floors, and the Champion Course’s links-style expanses while navigating a championship distance that exceeds 7,200 yards.

The European-inspired clubhouse houses lodging, a sauna, restaurants, and practice facilities for multi-day stays, though some guests prefer to return to Hanoi after a round because of occasional service variations.
