1. Overview

Da Lat Palace Golf Club is Vietnam’s oldest course, originally built during the French colonial era in the 1920s and revived as an 18-hole championship layout by Brett Stensson/IMG in 1993. Perched at 1,500 meters above sea level on the highland city’s northern ridge, it offers cool air and sweeping views of Xuan Huong Lake.

The entire course features bentgrass fairways and greens—the only facility in Southeast Asia with this combination—delivering consistent green speeds and precise ball control. The front nine undulates gently along the lake shore, while the back nine ventures through pine forests with sharper elevation changes and crowned greens that demand accuracy.

The clubhouse’s classic interior includes a lounge, wine bar, 300-yard driving range, and heated putting green, and experienced caddies provide detailed line-reading advice to tame the fast bentgrass surfaces.

4. Course guide

The front nine winds along Xuan Huong Lake and a long ridge with rolling rises and falls, while par-4 2 and par-3 5 cross the lake and frequently encounter lake-driven crosswinds that test carry distances. The back nine rides through pine forests with features such as the tiered green on par-4 12 and consecutive uphill par-5s (holes 14 and 15) that emphasize the highland relief.

The bentgrass greens present layered slopes that can force a two-club swing between pin locations, and the creeping bent fringes around the greens offer smooth run-offs for well-struck shots.
