1. Overview

Vietnam Golf & Country Club opened in 1994 as the nation’s first private 36-hole facility, carving East and West loops through rubber plantations and lakes near Ho Chi Minh City. It hosted the Vietnam Open (Asian Tour) in 1995 and 1997, cementing its championship pedigree.

East Course, led by Chen King Shih, winds through towering rubber trees with tight doglegs and strategic bunkering, while the Lee Trevino–shaped West Course uses broader landing areas, lakes, and rolling greens to offer a contrasting parkland challenge.

The club keeps pace with modern expectations via a 68-bay night range, Arnold Palmer–certified putting school, members-only clubhouse, and the 36-hole cart loop. Improvements in 2023 refreshed the greens and installed GPS carts to improve pace of play.

  • Vietnam’s first 36-hole private club · Vietnam Open championship venue in the 1990s.
  • Two distinct designs: East’s tight doglegs vs. West’s trevino-style lakes and crowns.
  • City-edge membership with night practice facilities, clubhouse, and range.

4. Course guide

East and West share the same membership campus but deliver very different moods. East leans into tighter corridors framed by rubber trees and elevation shifts, while West opens into expansive lakes, wide fairways, and Lee Trevino’s signature green complexes.

The club continues to invest in pace-of-play upgrades and practice infrastructure, so both loops play excellent into evening hours with GPS carts and night-flash driving range.

4.1 Layout

East Course demands precise tee direction and carries, with doglegs and slightly raised greens protecting the pin. Its mid-hole transitions through tree-lined corridors, while the closing holes feature valley crossings and a demanding par-5 16th.

West Course leans into lakes and Lee Trevino's design language—wide fairways open in exchange for high mid-iron precision into crowned greens that protect the pin with subtle slopes. The closing array from 13–18 features water guards, ravines, and a dramatic downhill par-5 finish toward the clubhouse.
